Dentist faces magistrate

Legal proceedings continue in a molestation case against local dentist Dr. Robert Boyda Jr., 42, of Mt. Lebanon, who has two separate practices in Scott and Robinson.

Boyda was accused of sexually assaulting female patients -- some of them teenagers -- while the patients were under anesthesia at his offices on Cochran Road and Steubenville Pike.

Police initially received allegations against Boyda in at least four separate incidents, and that number of allegations has since jumped to 20.

Original charges include indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indecent exposure.

Last Friday was the second day of a preliminary hearing, and District Judge Gary Zyra did not make a decision as of press-time if Boyda will stand trial.
