Police Log: Four apprehended in Exxon station crimes

Criminal conspiracy

Heidelberg police have made four arrests following a week-long investigation into numerous crimes at the Exxon gas station on Washington Pike.

Sean Sanns, 19, of Robin Drive in Scott; Benjamin Sugerman, 18, of Blue Jay Drive in Pittsburgh; Terra Bennett, 19, of Crane Avenue in Pittsburgh and Frank Bennett, 28, of Crane Avenue in Pittsburgh, were each charged with felony counts for theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property on Nov. 24.

The four individuals were apprehended at various locations and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

Police said there are three additional people who have been implicated in the crimes and arrest warrants are being sought on the same charges.

Scott

Theft

Someone stole $900 from a victim's purse while she was visiting a residence on Elmbrook Drive on Nov. 20. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft

Michael Jones, 34, of Trallee Drive, Bethel Park, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and various drug offenses after a witness saw him stealing items from vehicles in the Wal-Mart parking lot Nov. 20.

Liquor Law violations

Sean O'Connor, 19, of Hardie Way, Canonsburg, was charged with driving while under the influence, underage consumption and multiple traffic violations on Nov. 21. Another occupant of the same vehicle, Robert Glass, Jr., 19, of Bluff Street, Canonsburg was also charged with underage drinking.

Burglary

An unknown person took a 5-gallon plastic water jug containing $1,000 from a residence on Nov. 21.

Assault

Police are investigating a physical altercation that occurred outside Duke's Station on Nov. 24. The incident involved several patrons. Police are still investigating before charges will be filed.

Bridgeville

Burglary

Bridgeville police reported a back door window at Serafina's Pizza Shop was broken and money was removed from the store register on Nov. 13. Police said an ex-employee may be a suspect and are following up leads.

Reckless endangerment

After arriving at the scene, police were able to talk Gratzmiller down from his apartment. He was also charged with simple assault and terroristic threats.

Open burning

Bridgeville police cited Dale Parris, of Terrace Street, for violating the borough's ordinance for open burning on Nov. 14.

Police said Parris was warned on prior occasions and was cited for multiple offenses.

DUI

Jamie Unitus, 18, of Dominion Court in Pittsburgh, was charged with driving under the influence and driving without a license by Bridgeville police on Nov. 17.

A 17-year-old female was also cited for underage drinking.

Collier Township

Theft

Collier police reported a purse and a camera bag containing $80 were taken from Peter's Place on Nov. 16.

• A 75-pound roll of copper sheeting was taken from a vehicle on Thoms Run Road on Nov. 20, Collier police reported. The materials are valued at $150.

Retail theft

Andrew Zevola, 20, of Fortieth Street in Pittsburgh, was cited for retail theft at Kmart by Collier police on Nov. 19.

Police said Zevola opened up a b.b. gun worth $40 and hid it in his pants.
