Wade wins 25-lap feature

During a weekend when Kyle Busch, perhaps NASCAR's most hated driver, alienated even more people by winning at Darlington, S.C., there was plenty of local action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway.

In the Pizza Hut Late Models, Imperial's Dave Wade drove to a big win this in the 25-lap feature.

This was Wade's first victory of the season. Wade and Jim Lepro brought the field down for the green. Coming around to complete the first lap, Lepro spun, causing the entire field to dodge him.

Unfortunately, Larry Marks could not and hit him. This eliminated both for the night.

With a complete restart on the next lap, Wade grabbed the lead with Keith Rodriguez in tow. Wade began to open up a lead while a large pack battled behind him. The pack was headed by Rodriguez.

Alex Ferree battled with Rodriguez, while Lynn Geisler, Steve Baker and Brandon Burgoon ran behind. Wade widened his lead while the battle for second continued.

Wade maintained a comfortable margin at the checker, which went non-stop from the opening lap yellow. Al Atallah ended second, follow by Baker.

In the Brougher's Machine Shop Crate Late Models, Mike Pegher Jr. of Wexford grabbed his first win ever in the class after a torrid battle with Tom Schirnhofer and Dan Angelicchio. Schirnhofer grabbed the lead at the start with Pegher and Angelicchio right behind.

The trio battled for the lead until lap five when Pegher finally snuck by. Angelicchio eventually finished fifth after spinning; Schirnoffer finished just ahead of him.

In other races, J.E. Staslder picked up his first win of the season in the Miley Truck Rental E-Mods. Jake Simmons of McKees Rocks picked up his first win of the season -- the Sunoco Race Fuels Pure Stocks. Kennedy resident Robby Torrens won the Flynn Tire & Auto Amateurs race.
